At the advent of “The Electricity Act-2003” and consequent repeal of the previous enactments governing the area of electricity viz. Electricity Act, 1910, Electricity (Supply) Act-1948 and the Electricity Regulatory Commission Act-1998, the States have acquired enough flexibility to develop their power sector in the manner they consider appropriate.
